Astros Topple Rangers, 4-1
|
The Houston Astros topped the Texas Rangers, 4-1, in American League action at Minute Maid Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Houston pitcher Jon Daugherty. With the win, Houston raised its record to 43-40.
The Astros got an important contribution from designated hitter Alex Perez, who in the bottom of the first hit a 1-0 curveball into right for a 2-run home run. It was his 17th home run of the season and put the Astros ahead, 2-0.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Daugherty.
