Oakland first baseman Pat Wilson played a vital role in his team's 7-5 triumph over Los Angeles. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for Oakland. The Athletics now have a record of 33-49.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Athletics had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the third, when center fielder Ben Celeste hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Chris Kirby and made the score 1-0, Athletics. Celeste went 1-4 with a walk. He scored 2 runs.
