Reds Losers, 7-5, to New York
|
Though he had a stellar game, Allan Alessi could not prevent his team, the Cincinnati Reds, from losing, 7-5, to the New York Mets. Alessi went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Picking up his 16th save was 26-year old right-handed pitcher John Rood. With the victory, the Mets record stands at 39-43.
Brian Taylor hit a 2-run triple off Mel Valdez in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Mets in front, 7-5. Taylor had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 5.
"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Taylor told the New York Chronicle.
