Rays Nip Red Sox, 1-0
|
Rich Friesz could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Boston Red Sox lost, dropping a 1-0 decision to the Tampa Bay Rays at Jon Nunez Sr. Stadium. Earning his 13th save for Tampa Bay was Jeremy Coffen. The Rays are now 38-46, while the Red Sox fall to 39-44.
The Rays got a big at-bat from first baseman Darwin Corrick. For the game, Corrick was 1 for 3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead.
"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Corrick.
