Guardians Stun Rangers, 2-0
|
Cleveland turned a good effort from starter Greg Pence into a win over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington. The Guardians won the game, 2-0. Pablo Iglesias, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 17th save. The Guardians improved to 36-47.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for J.J. Kirby? The reigning Javier Serrato Player of the Year Award winner Kirby stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Cleveland up, 2-0. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Pence.
