Yankees Lose Late, 2-1
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the New York Yankees and Colorado Rockies get after it.
The Rockies grabbed a win, 2-1, at Colorado Field, overcoming a fine effort from New York pitcher Anthony Gasper. Gasper went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. The Rockies, at 46-37, sit in third place in the National League Central Division.
Had Jesus Pena not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Pena hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Rockies.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Colorado manager Trevor Taka.
