The Seattle Mariners had to overcome a good performance from Detroit pitcher Jen-kan Tow to claim a 3-2 win at Comerica Park. Tow went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. Picking up his 7th save was 27-year old left-handed pitcher Alex Franco. The Mariners now have a record of 33-50 with the win over Detroit.

The Mariners got a big at-bat from left fielder Ray McNary. For the game, McNary was 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Seattle a 3-2 lead.

"I told our guys, 'Runs don't score by themselves,'" said McNary. "You need someone to get on base and someone to drive them in."
