San Francisco Beats Philadelphia, 5-0
|
San Francisco Giants starter Chase Allen was in fine form. He led his team to victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-0. The loss makes Philadelphia 33-50.
Ricky Cruz had a big 3-run home run for the Giants in the bottom of the fourth inning. With San Francisco leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a cutter from Mike Middleton, who finished 3rd in the NL in strikeouts with 213 in 2112, and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 12th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Giants ahead, 5-0.
"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Allen.
