Thomas Twirls a Gem for Tampa Bay
|
Right-hander Dean Thomas mesmerized the Milwaukee Brewers while leading the Tampa Bay Rays to a 3-0 victory. Todd Curley was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 19 save opportunities. Their 35-49 record puts the Rays last in the American League East Division.
Thomas, who dominated for Tampa Bay, earned the victory to move to 5-7. He was in control the whole game, scattering 4 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 9. Milwaukee batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Tampa Bay skipper Domingo Arredondo. "I can't complain."
