Diamondbacks Handled by Atlanta, 7-5
|
Atlanta Braves starter Jorge Villalona pitched a strong game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field, leading the Braves to victory, 7-5. Villalona went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 10. His record improves to 7-4. Tim Pye finished to wrap up his 19th save.
Atlanta relied on the hitting of Jordan Montijo to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the second inning to put the Braves on top, 3-0. For the game, Montijo had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
In postgame comments to the Atlanta Bulletin, Villalona said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
