Arizona Slaps 4-1 Loss on Los Angeles
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks stopped the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-1, behind an impressive performance from Nick Cheney. The 29-year old second baseman made life miserable for Los Angeles pitching. He was 4-4 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs. Andy Bourdeau picked up the win, improving his season record to 10-7. He struck out 3 in 5 innings. After today's action, Arizona sits at 47-38, while Los Angeles falls to 46-38.
The Diamondbacks got a big at-bat from right fielder Billy Hinson. For the game, Hinson was 3 for 3 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 21st double of the season gave Arizona a 2-0 lead.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Cheney told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
