Reds Take Nail-Biter Over Padres
|
The Cincinnati Reds electrified the home crowd with a walk-off win.
The Cincinnati Reds snuck past the San Diego Padres, 6-5, in 10 innings. Cincinnati pitcher Roger (Eben) Penn, in particular, had a standout performance. Corey Comer, who led the NL in saves with 47 in 2109, was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-4. The losing pitcher was Josh Morse.
The Reds got a clutch hit from first baseman Bryan Cannon. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to right, to win the game for the Reds.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Penn.
Cincinnati is now 39-48, San Diego 41-43.
