Tampa Bay turned a fine outing from starter Mark Fenton into a victory over the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. The final score was 5-2 in 13 innings. Tampa Bay reliever Merlin Penney snagged the win, upping his record to 2-4. Bobby Quinn shouldered the loss. Chris Roberts, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2107 draft, nailed down the save.

C.J. Newman hit a bases-clearing triple off Chris Sanchez in the top of the 13th, which put the Rays in front, 5-2. Newman had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 7.

"This ballgame left me feeling kind of raw," said Houston manager Tony Monterosa.

Today's win puts Tampa Bay at 44-42, while Houston falls to 34-51.
