Goff Shines, But Mets Fall Short
|
The Atlanta Braves and New York Mets obliged fans looking for a good time.
The Atlanta Braves had to overcome a big game from New York first baseman Grant Goff to leave Coca-Cola Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 9-8. Goff slugged 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Tim Hall, now 2-6, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Bill Hanley collected his 12th save.
Atlanta took the lead, 9-8, on Francisco Galdamez's 19th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off New York pitcher Dylan Scott in the bottom of the eighth.
"I hate to be the fly in the ointment," said Galdamez, "but we could've played better."
The setback makes New York 39-46.
