Braves Wiggle Past New York, 3-2
|
The bats were quiet at Coca-Cola Field. But 24-year old second baseman Francisco Galdamez produced just enough offense to carry the Braves past the New York Mets, 3-2, in 11 innings. Galdamez was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The Braves saw their record improve to 44-46.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the 11th, with Atlanta trailing 2-1, Galdamez hit a cutter from Brandon Chopp for a 2-run home run, giving the Braves the walk-off win.
"Tip of the cap to the Braves," said New York manager Rodney Smith. "They played a good game."
