Pirates Fall to .500 After 5-2 Loss to Nationals
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Washington Nationals and Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Pittsburgh Pirates got a superb performance from first baseman Zachary Gugliotta. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Washington. The Nationals won the game, 5-2. Gugliotta was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Washington reliever John Skinner picked up the win, while Gaby Juarbe Jr. took the loss for Pittsburgh.
Washington took a 4-2 lead on Juan Lozano's 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Lozano hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Pittsburgh pitcher Gaby Juarbe Jr. visibly frustrated.
"Winning is not something we take for granted," Lozano said.
The loss makes Pittsburgh 44-44.
