Pirates Score Late, Topple Nationals, 8-3
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates knocked off the Washington Nationals, 8-3, at Nationals Park. Brendan Keyes was a big reason Pittsburgh won. The center fielder went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. The win went to John Berglund in relief. His record improves to 6-1. Bryan Trevino took the loss. Pittsburgh goes to 56-32. The win puts them 10 games up in their division.
Robby Reiter had a key at-bat with one out in the top of the eighth for Pittsburgh. With the bases loaded and the Pirates leading 4-3, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"I put some good swings on the ball tonight," said Keyes.
