Narrow Win Takes Atlanta Streak to 9
|
Getting offensive support from Kenny Akers, the Atlanta Braves topped the Houston Astros, 7-6. Akers went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Braves. The win was credited to Mitchell Scott in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Jeff Hank took the loss. Houston's current losing streak is now 5 games.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Atlanta trailing 6-5, Greg Somers hit a sinker from Jeff Hank to right for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Braves had a walk-off win.
"Someone different steps up for us each time out," said Dan Hoagland, the Atlanta skipper.
