The Toronto Blue Jays pinned a convincing loss on the Arizona Diamondbacks, 9-0, at Chase Field. Vic Rivera was a main factor in the win. He went 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for Toronto. Toronto pitcher Alex Bartolo got the win. He's now 7-2. Josh Vaughn was tagged with the loss. Bryan Bassett earned the save for Toronto, his 6th of the year.

Nick Maruschak had a big 2-run home run for the Blue Jays in the top of the first inning. With Toronto leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Josh Vaughn and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Blue Jays on top, 3-0.

"What a lackluster performance," lamented losing manager Terrell Bailey.
