The Los Angeles Angels downed the Texas Rangers, 5-4. The hitting star was center fielder Gary Dennis. Dennis was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Angels. Kenneth Cluett, the winner, is now 6-4. He struck out 2 and walked 2 over 7 innings, while allowing 4 runs on 7 hits. Tony Sanchez finished to wrap up his 24th save.
With Los Angeles trailing 3-1 in the top of the fifth, Dennis hit a changeup from Pat Yarnall for a 3-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Angels ahead, 4-3.
