New York Tops Milwaukee, 3-1
|
The New York Yankees got a magnificent performance from pitcher Chris Williams, who muffled the Milwaukee offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Yankees win at Miller Park. In 5.1 innings, Williams surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. The save was credited to Chris Fama, his 16th.
New York used a clutch at-bat from Hugo Vitagliano to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Yankees ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Every loss hurts," said Milwaukee manager Dan Silva. "But this was a tough one."
New York now sports a record of 35-55.
