Padres Drop Giants, 2-0
|
The San Francisco Giants wasted an inspired, 6.2-inning effort from starter Doug Martin, falling, 2-0, to the San Diego Padres in 10 innings at AT&T Park. Josh Lipton picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 6-3. Colin King suffered the loss. Arturo Robles finished to wrap up his 5th save.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Leo Lepe? The 28-year old right fielder Lepe stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put San Diego up, 1-0. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I thought we competed really well," said Padres manager Tim Lentz. "I thought the energy was really good."
The winning continues for San Diego, with the latest triumph making it 7 straight.
