Giants Drop Pirates, 2-1
|
San Francisco Giants starter Andy Cote worked his magic, as he helped his team defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 2-1. Cote went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 10. His record improves to 6-6. The save went to Drew Goodwin, his 1st this season.
Masataka Kato hit a run-scoring double off Chris Niewinski in the bottom of the third, which put the Giants in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Kato had 1 single, while going 2 for 3.
"We scored one run," said Pittsburgh manager Merlyn Evans. "You're not gonna get a lot of Ws scoring just one run."
San Francisco now has a 5-game win streak.
