Giants Zip Past Pirates, 9-1
|
Brian Main led San Francisco to a win over Pittsburgh. The final score was 9-1. Main, who leads the NL in triples with 9, collected 3 RBI, while going 3 for 4 at the plate. The left fielder also scored 2 times. The 4th-place Giants hiked their record to 42-49.
Mike Pothast had a big run-scoring double for the Giants in the bottom of the fourth inning. With San Francisco leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Jason Panzarella, who finished 4th in the NL in ERA with 3.16 in 2108, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Giants ahead, 2-0.
"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Main.
