Texas got a big-time effort from pitcher Tyler Gaskins, but it wasn't enough to keep the New York Mets from winning the game, 4-3. Gaskins threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The 'W' lifts New York's record to 43-48.

The Mets got a clutch hit from third baseman Kevin King. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Mets.

"We refused to lose," said winning manager Rodney Smith.
