Red Sox Beaten, 4-3, by Detroit
|
It might have been a rain-shorted game, but Tigers fans didn't seem to mind as long as their team got the win.
Thanks in large part to designated hitter Chris Ward, the Detroit Tigers beat the Boston Red Sox, 4-3. Ward went 2 for 2 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs. Detroit, now 44-48, holds down third place in the American League Central Division.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from right fielder Daniel Pereyra. For the game, Pereyra went 1 for 2 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 17th home run of the season gave Detroit a 3-0 lead.
Said losing manager Michael Meagher: "Not taking anything away from them, but we swung the bats better than what it showed."
