Salvaggio Plays Big Role in Boston Win
Runs were scarce at Fenway Park.

In a low-scoring affair between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees, pitcher Dave Salvaggio was the difference between victory and defeat. The Boston right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-0 Red Sox win. Scott Duree notched his 23rd save of the season.

Salvaggio lasted 8 innings, allowing no runs on 5 hits. The Boston right-hander, who is tied for 6th in the AL in innings pitched with 122.2, is now 5-10.

"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Salvaggio said.

The 4th-place Yankees have dropped 5 straight games.
