Nationals Sink Angels, 5-2
|
Washington Nationals starter Greg Hoppe pitched a strong game against the Los Angeles Angels at Nationals Park, leading the Nationals to victory, 5-2. Dallas Cart got credit for the save for Washington. It was his 19th of the year. The Nationals now have a mark of 39-56.
Ben Baker, who is on pace to hit 32 home runs this season, took Los Angeles hurler Josh Carnevale deep in the bottom of the seventh. His 3-run home run put the Nationals on top, 5-2. In all, Baker had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"I liked the focus, I liked the effort," said Nationals manager Doug Graff.
