Padres Win Streak Now at 8 After 4-0 Victory
|
The winning streak continued for San Diego.
Behind the hitting of Brent Shipley, the San Diego Padres stopped the Colorado Rockies, 4-0. Shipley was 3-4 with a home run and a double for the Padres. San Diego reliever Ricky Marquez, who is tied for 6th in the NL in strikeouts with 123, was credited with the win. His record goes to 13-1. Jonas Bruinink took the loss for Colorado.
San Diego took a 2-0 lead on Mike McNamara's 15th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which McNamara hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Colorado pitcher Jacob Caba visibly frustrated.
"Everybody is chipping in right now," said Shipley. "That's what makes it so much fun."
The losing streak for Colorado has now reached 4 games.
