Phillies Victors, 2-1, at Pittsburgh
|
The Philadelphia Phillies picked up a win at PNC Park, downing the Pittsburgh Pirates, 2-1. On the mound for Philadelphia was right-hander Danny Ahlers, who played a pivotal role in the win. Earning his 14th save of the year was John Speer. The Phillies improved their record to 34-59 with the win over Pittsburgh.
Quincy Herbert had a direct impact on the outcome. Herbert contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Philadelphia up, 1-0.
"Our pitching was the difference tonight," Herbert said.
