New York Yankees starter Pablo Castaneda was on his game, helping his team beat the Kansas City Royals, 3-1. Castaneda picked up the win for New York, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 8-5. Zach Rogers earned save number 20 this season.

The Royals had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Yankees going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old second baseman Steve Marston came to the plate. Marston hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch fastball from Kansas City hurler Theron Koulpasis. It was Marston's 20th home run of the year.

"All in all, I thought Pablo pitched a fine game for us tonight," said New York manager Mike Hanson.
