Phillies Stun Mariners, 6-3
|
Behind a fine performance from Chad Larson, the Philadelphia Phillies knocked off the Seattle Mariners, 6-3. Larson went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Phillies. Eric Allard, now 8-7, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. Philadelphia is first in the National League East Division with a record of 52-42.
Had Pete Ray not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Ray hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Phillies.
"Anytime I can help the team, I feel good about it," said Larson.
