Angels Defeat Nationals in 10
|
Los Angeles Angels starter Mike Cerretani pitched a strong game against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park, leading the Angels to victory, 7-4. Richard Clare, now 7-1, was credited with the win in 0.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. The save went to Jimmy Powell, number 10 for him.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 25-year old third baseman Randy Zito. Zito had a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Angels ahead, 6-4. For the game, Zito had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I'll play 10 innings, I'll play 20," said Angels manager Matt Moore. "Whatever it takes to win the ballgame."
The third-place Angels now have a win-loss record of 46-47.
