Athletics Popped by Orioles, 6-1
|
The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Oakland Athletics, 6-1. Right Fielder John Healey deserved a large share of the credit. Healey went 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Orioles. The win went to Pedro Salazar in relief. His record improves to 4-3. Rob Lewey took the loss. The Orioles now own a record of 36-59.
Making an impact for Baltimore was third baseman Antonio Cardenas. No. 3 drilled a run-scoring triple off Rob Lewey in the bottom of the second. For the game, Cardenas was 1-4 with a triple.
"I liked the focus, I liked the effort," said Orioles manager Art Matlock.
