Blue Jays Do In Royals, 10-3
The Toronto Blue Jays powered past the Kansas City Royals, 10-3, at Kauffman Stadium. Dennis Desper provided some of the pop. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs. Angel Arellano earned the save for Toronto, his 1st of the year. The second-place Blue Jays bumped their record to 51-43.

Nick Maruschak had a big grand slam home run for the Blue Jays in the top of the ninth inning. With Toronto leading 6-3 and the bases loaded, he sized up a cutter from fireballing left-hander Bobby Day and punished it. The result was his 22nd home run of the season, which put the Blue Jays on top, 10-3.

"Dennis leaves the last at-bat behind him, whether it was good or bad, and goes up there and competes on every pitch," said Toronto manager Dan Silva.
