The New York Mets picked up a win at Citi Field, knocking off the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-3. On the mound for New York was right-hander Miguel Montoya. He played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Montoya, now 8-5. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. New York, now 46-50, holds down third place in the National League East Division.
In the bottom of the fifth, New York third baseman Grant Goff had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and no one out, Goff stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 4-1, New York. For the game, he went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
