Red Sox Trip Yankees, 6-3, in Extra Innings
|
The Boston Red Sox topped the New York Yankees by the score of 6-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Joe Fowler. Fowler went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs for the Red Sox on the day. Getting the save was Joe Carver, his 1st. Boston, at 52-43, sits in second place in the American League East Division.
Boston used a clutch hit from Tyler Den Hartog to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Den Hartog, "and go after the next one."
