Mariners Bridle Dodgers, 3-1
|
Nick Avery, who finished 5th in the AL in wins with 17 in 2108, never let the Dodgers get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his changeup, to pitch the Mariners to a win, 3-1. The Mariners sport a record of 38-57.
Seattle took a 3-1 lead on Billy Barnhart's 6th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Barnhart hit in the top of the eighth, left Los Angeles pitcher James Murano visibly frustrated.
"Nick pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Seattle manager Jim McClintic.
