Bill McEnerney, who finished 5th in the NL in ERA with 3.62 in 2104, had a strong outing for the St. Louis Cardinals against the Colorado Rockies at Colorado Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. The last-place Cardinals lifted their record to 44-52.

St. Louis used a well-timed hit by Mark Wofford to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Cardinals ahead, 4-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

In postgame comments, Cardinals manager Leyland Thomas applauded McEnerney. "Flotsam always gives us a chance to win."
