Tampa Bay Falls Again, 4-3
|
Philadelphia Phillies starter Chris Wilhelm pitched a strong game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Citizens Bank Park, leading the Phillies to victory, 4-3. Wilhelm, now 12-9, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. David Trahan earned the save, his 13th in 15 tries.
Jaden Haynes had a big 2-run home run for the Phillies in the bottom of the third inning. With Philadelphia leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a sinker from Tony Severs, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2098 draft, and punished it. The result was his 13th home run of the season, which put the Phillies on top, 3-0.
"We certainly don't want to get used to losing," said losing manager Kyle Delgado.
The third-place Phillies have won 4 in a row.
