Phillies Beaten By Hustle, 5-2
|
The Las Vegas Hustle beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-2, at Citizens Bank Park. Las Vegas left fielder Jacob Sessions had the hot bat. He went 3-4 with 2 home runs. Roberto Silva was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Earning his 30th save of the year was Ryan McLellan.
Danny Valdez had a big 2-run home run for the Hustle in the top of the third inning. With Las Vegas leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from Rick Whitley, who finished 2nd in the AL in saves with 35 in 2106, and punished it. The result was his 26th home run of the season, which put the Hustle on top, 3-0.
Said losing manager John Lucidi: "Give the Hustle credit. They played a better game than we did."
Las Vegas improves to 65-33 with the win. They lead their division by 9½ games.
