Rangers Get Hard-Earned Win
|
The Texas Rangers overcame a good performance by Chicago center fielder Troy Loyd to knock off Chicago, 6-5, at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Loyd was 2 for 2 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner in relief was Steve Gbur. He is now 6-3. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Willie Perez recorded the save for Texas, his 1st of the season.
Shane Trahan drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate for Texas. The 25-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jayson Redd. It was his 58th walk of the season.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Trahan said.
The win lifted the Texas record to 50-48.
