Red Sox Win with Late Heroics
|
Despite the exploits of left fielder Tom Lazier, the San Diego Padres were beaten by the Boston Red Sox, 4-3, in 10 innings. Lazier went 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times. David Thibeaux snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-1 on the season. Montes Galli suffered the loss. Boston currently is in 4th place in the American League East Division at 38-60.
The Red Sox got a clutch hit from catcher Joe Floyd. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Red Sox.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Floyd. "I like it."
