The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Seattle Mariners, 12-5, in American League action at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Chris Ward pulled his weight. The 10-year veteran went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Kenneth Cluett, the winner, is now 7-7. He struck out 7 and walked 1 over 7 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 5 hits.

A key moment came with two out in the bottom of the first. That's when Ward hit a changeup from Tom Frye for a 2-run single, putting Los Angeles up, 2-0.
