Brewers Turn Away Cubs, 4-3
|
Chicago catcher Joel Van Vleet was sensational. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Milwaukee beat the Cubs, 4-3. The winning pitcher was 34-year old right-handed pitcher Wally Sharp. He tossed 105 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits. After today's action, Milwaukee sits at 33-66, while Chicago falls to 58-41.
Milwaukee used the timely hitting of Kyle Archibeque to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Brewers on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
"I was a little disappointed," said Chicago manager Vin Calia. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
