Reds Knock Off Blue Jays, 8-2
|
Benefiting from Jamie Moore's productive game, the Cincinnati Reds downed the Toronto Blue Jays, 8-2. Moore hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Reds. Cincinnati reliever Juan Mata was credited with the win, to go to 4-3. Greg Earle took the loss for Toronto. With the win, Cincinnati raised its record to 55-44.
Steve Carbone, who led the NL in RBI with 135 in 2094, contributed to the Cincinnati win with a run-scoring ground out in the top of the first. For the game, the first baseman had 3 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 2 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in.
Moore told the Cincinnati Bulletin: "I'm the straw that stirs the drink."
