Giants Hold Off Dodgers, 3-2
|
San Francisco right-hander Matt Barnes helped his team edge Los Angeles by the score of 3-2. Barnes kept the opposing lineup in check. San Francisco reliever Mitch White was credited with the win. His record goes to 2-1. Billy Benedict took the loss for Los Angeles. Jim Doll was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 26 of 28 save opportunities.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when center fielder Eric Mathews hit a triple. The Giants went on to win.
"Matt was pumping the zone," said San Francisco manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon.
San Francisco now sits at 52-49, while Los Angeles falls to 40-58.
