Brewers first baseman Alex Cruz put his stamp on his team's 4-3 win over the New York Mets. Cruz went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Milwaukee in the contest. Milwaukee pitcher Andrew Ellis got the win. He's now 1-8. Andy Anderson was tagged with the loss. Chris Hellige picked up the save for Milwaukee, his 6th of the year.

The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fifth when Cruz, who finished 4th in the NL in slugging percentage with .568 last year, hit a run-scoring single. It propelled the Brewers into the lead, 4-3.

"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Cruz told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."

The Brewers raised their record to 45-54.
