4-1 Loss Extends New York Skid
|
The New York Mets could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Mike Rutz into a win. Instead, the Atlanta Braves prevailed, 4-1. Rutz threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. With the win, the Braves have a record of 51-52.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for David Valera? The Atlanta center fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Braves on top, 2-1. For the game, Valera had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"It's going to click," said New York manager Rodney Smith. "It's just a matter of when."
