Toronto Makes It 10 Straight, Barely
|
The Toronto Blue Jays withstood an impressive performance by Pittsburgh center fielder Randy Wilson to defeat the Pirates, 8-7, at PNC Park. Wilson was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Toronto is now 69-33, Pittsburgh 50-52.
Toronto relied on the hitting of John Slaff to pick up the win. The center fielder ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the 11th inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 6-5. For the game, Slaff had 1 triple and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"We're playing like a well-oiled machine right now," said Blue Jays manager Dan Silva.
