Cincinnati turned a good performance from starting pitcher Kyle Gruhlke into a 7-2 triumph over the Washington Nationals at Great American Ball Park. The winning pitcher was Gruhlke, now 6-6. He tossed 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 4. The Reds saw their record improve to 63-40.

The Nationals had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Reds going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 2109 Ben Celeste Rookie of the Year Award winner Javy Castaneda came to the plate. Castaneda hit a 2-run double on a 1-2 cutter from Washington hurler Mike Rios. It was Castaneda's 17th double of the year.

"We all want to win," said Castaneda. "We all want to do our part."
