Rays Handle Arizona, Snag 2-0 Win
|
Behind an impressive start by Cory Atkins, Tampa Bay beat Arizona, 2-0. At 45-57, the Rays claim 4th place in the American League East Division.
Andy Molina had a big solo home run for the Rays in the top of the fifth inning. With Tampa Bay leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Bubba Schmitz, who is tied for 6th in the NL in quality starts with 12, and punished it. The result was his 11th home run of the season, which put the Rays on top, 2-0.
"Coming in, from the get-go, I knew my stuff was good," said Atkins.
