The New York Mets downed the Las Vegas Hustle, 6-3, at Las Vegas Ballpark. The Mets were led by Jose Cortes. Cortes was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. New York reliever Brandon Chopp picked up the win to move to 6-4. Ryan McLellan suffered the loss. New York sits in second place in the National League East Division at 50-51.

Cortes had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a full count sinker from Jonathan Reddington, he banged a grand slam home run to left-center, giving the Mets a 6-3 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Cortes.

"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Cortes. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."
